The main thing that sets the G Cloud Handheld Gaming Console apart from other Android tablets is its design. The one in the middle is a 7-inch display, with controls on either side of the display – like a switch when the drivers are connected. Drivers cannot be disconnected from the G Cloud.
The controls are what you’d expect in 2022 – you’ll find two joysticks, a D-pad, and the ABCD buttons on the right. You’ll find competitors on top, as well as what Logitech calls the G button. At the bottom, you’ll find a USB-C port and a MicroSD card slot.
Generally speaking, the G Cloud Handheld Gaming Console is very comfortable to hold in the hand. It’s not too heavy, and it’s ergonomic to use for long periods of gaming.
The display on this device is good for cloud gaming, but not amazing. It has a 7-inch LCD display with a 1,080p resolution, and it provides 450 nits of brightness. I know it’s bright enough for most uses, but I’d like a higher resolution and HDR support, even if cloud services don’t support those at the moment.

Under the hood, the G Cloud Handheld Gaming Console offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor – which is a bit disappointing to see. The chip is almost three years old, and the lack of performance is playing a role in how well native games run on the device. Combined with that processor, you will get 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but you can expand that storage with a MicroSD card.
Unfortunately, the G Cloud Handheld only supports the Wi-Fi 5 standard, which is not very good considering the fact that Wi-Fi 6 and 6E are here, and Wi-Fi 7 is on the way. That’s especially true for someone who relies heavily on an internet connection for its value.
The battery is a massive 6,000mAh, and Logitech claims it will provide up to 12 hours of playtime. You won’t get anywhere near 12 hours playing real games, but you can get pretty close when streaming, depending on your display brightness.

You can use the Logitech G Cloud as a regular Android tablet, but it’s best to use it with Logitech software. This really changes the entire software experience with a row of games – the most recent player on the left.

The G Cloud Handheld is designed for cloud gaming, but you can install native Android games on it, as you might expect. I don’t recommend doing that, unless you’re playing light games and/or older games. You don’t have to, but you can’t play emulated hardcore games unless, they’re light or old.

Of course, the real advantage of this device is using it for cloud gaming – and that’s where it works best. Of course, that assumes you have a good internet connection – and if you don’t there’s not much G Cloud can do about it.
First, I streamed games locally, from my PlayStation 5 to the G Cloud Handheld. Unfortunately, the drivers don’t work with the Sony Remote Play feature, so you’ll have to fork out $5.99 for the useless, but very useful, PSPlay app on the Google Play Store. With this program, everything runs smoothly, and the controls are documented.
I also played on Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming, and it worked flawlessly. Games are smooth and responsive, and while you won’t get things like high resolution, HDR, and more, which you get on a console, the experience is definitely better.
Results
The Logitech G Cloud Handheld Gaming Console is great, but it’s hard to know exactly where it fits in the lineup. For many people, using a phone for streaming is more convenient – although the use of a separate driver is required in many situations. The competition
There is a lot of competition in this area at the same time, and very little. As far as handheld gaming devices go, it’s probably the best at the moment, although the Razer Edge may change that when it comes out, and the Steam Deck is a great option – but it’s better.
