King Charles III danced with Anne Frank’s half-sister while visiting a Jewish community center in north London on Friday.

Eva Schloss, 93, survived imprisonment in Nazi concentration camps and spent decades promoting peace among humanity. She danced along the king During the celebration of Hanukkah, the Jewish winter festival.

She said: “He was sweet, he really took part, he was enjoying himself, but it’s unusual for him not to do a speech. But he was so relaxed and he enjoyed it, I was trying to dance with him. .

Charles visited the JW3 Community Center on Finchley Road where he spoke to school children packing gifts and food hampers for families around Camden. He also met refugees and Holocaust survivors baking gingerbread biscuits.

JW3 chief executive Raymond Simonson, who accompanied King on his tour of the centre, said Charles arrived with a car boot full of rice and tinned tuna to go in the donation packets.

In a speech during which she presented the King with a Chanukah of eight candelabras, Dame Vivian Duffield said she founded JW3 to give the Jewish community in London a place to gather to protect and celebrate their heritage.

When the king walked into the kitchen where a group of young refugees were baking biscuits for Christmas hampers, one of the cooks, Safinat, fell to his knees.

She later said: “To be honest, I can’t explain the feeling. To see him live, I was like oh my God, it was a great feeling and I’m glad I got to meet him.”
