LONDON, Dec 16 (Reuters) – Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey appeared via videolink in a London court on Friday on seven charges related to a number of alleged sexual assaults against one man between 2001 and 2004.
Spacey, who appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court via videolink from the Middle East, spoke only to confirm his name Kevin Spacey Fowler, his date of birth and London address during the brief hearing.
The 63-year-old pleaded no contest to one count of engaging in sexual activity with a person without consent, three counts of indecent assault and three counts of sexual assault.
Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service authorized seven additional charges last month, after Spacey was originally charged with four counts of sexual assault by touching and one count of engaging in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
Judge Paul Goldspring said the additional charges were “related offenses already before the court”. Spacey pleaded not guilty to the five counts at London’s Old Bailey in June and is scheduled to stand trial on those charges in June 2023.
Spacey was granted unconditional bail ahead of his next court appearance at London’s Southwark Crown Court on January 13.
