The municipal corporation has asked the police to register an FIR against Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited for reconnecting disconnected mobile phone lines without paying membership fees and without seeking permission from it.
Confirming the same, MC Deputy Commissioner Deepak Sura said after the MC disconnected Jio’s lines, the company connected the lines without paying membership fees or seeking permission.
It is pertinent to mention here that the MC team has cut ties with the companies that have not deposited the fee for mobile lines and towers in the city. The firms included Jio, Fastway and Connect.
Sura told these companies that cases will be registered against companies that will reconnect the lines without paying the membership fee or without obtaining a permit.
The MC has issued notices to these companies many times to clear the dues amounting to several crores and remove the illegal infrastructure.
Sura said defaulters will not be spared under any circumstances.
He said some other companies had also reconnected the lines that had been snapped by the civic body. FIRs would be filed against those companies within a day or two. MC Deputy Commissioner said that the guilty companies may lose their license as well.
