The Walt Disney Company released the first poster for the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the highly anticipated fifth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. The poster gives a fresh look at the grizzled archaeologist, with Harrison Ford stepping into the iconic role one last time.
The poster shows Indy in his signature fedora and leather jacket, the brim of the hat just casting a shadow to obscure Ford’s face. Since the details of the film’s plot are so secretive, nothing else has been revealed in this initial poster, with Indy only visible against a blank background. The only other detail included in the poster is the film’s summer release date of June 30. However, since the marketing campaign for the film is just getting started, it’s likely that additional posters will be released in the near future. future, including a theatrical release poster that will no doubt have more details.
Along with the teaser poster, the first trailer for the film was also released at Brazil’s CCXP, giving fans more insight into the film at last. While the trailer, like the poster, retains most of the main plot points of Dial of Destiny secret, it provides the first major on-screen look at the cast that will make up the fifth season of Indiana Jones.
Starring alongside Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who plays Indy’s goddess Helena; John Rhys-Davies, reprising his role as Sallah from earlier episodes of the franchise; Mads Mikkelsen as the villain Voller; Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, and Shaunette Renée Wilson. Aside from this, Antonio Banderas, Thomas Kretschmann, and Olivier Richters has been cast in unspecified roles.
Disney, along with production company Lucasfilm, has also assembled a powerhouse team to oversee the film’s production. Dial of Destiny is led by James Mangold, known for leading films such as Logan and Ford versus Ferrari. It will also be the first film in the Indiana Jones franchise that should not be directed by Steven Spielberg, although he serves as a producer along Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, and Frank Marshall. Mangold also wrote the film’s screenplay John-Henry Butterworth and Jez Butterworth, which also marked the first time that a Indiana Jones the script was not written by the founder of Lucasfilm George Lucas.
Even though he’s 80 years old, fans of the decades-old franchise will still be clamoring to see Ford whip up Indiana Jones again.
