How to use Maintenance mode on Samsung Galaxy phones

 | Daily News Byte

Giving your favorite Android phone to a service center for repair is a pain. Even for a quick fix, there is a concern that the technology can access your personal photos and files stored on the device. Samsung intends to fix this problem with the Maintenance mode in One UI 5. Below is everything you need to know about this feature and how to use it on your Galaxy phone.

What is the maintenance of Samsung Galaxy phones?

The protection mode in One UI 5 protects your privacy by keeping the data on your phone safe from prying eyes. The method is used to send your phone in for repair, because you don’t need to configure it in those features. Instead, turn on the Maintenance mode and send the phone to the service center without worrying about the technician accessing your personal data.

Make a backup of your important data before submitting your phone for repair.

Protected mode restricts access to your account, photos, files, and other data stored on the phone. Technology includes pre-installed software. They can download and install new apps from the Galaxy Store, change system settings, sign in to their Google account, access the Play Store, and run their diagnostic tools without a problem.

When the Maintenance mode is terminated, the data is lost, and the device is returned to the same state as before the mode occurred.

Backup mode creates a separate guest account on your Galaxy device, which repair technicians can use for their testing. This also ensures that they cannot access your personal data on the device. The maintenance method is the reason why many users have lost support in One UI 5 even though the option is available in previous builds.

This feature only works when minor repairs are done on your phone. It will not be used if there are serious problems that require a logical change or a complete system. In such cases, you should create a backup of your data before giving your phone to the service center. Otherwise, you risk losing all your data.

Storage-friendly devices

Samsung tested Maintenance mode on the Galaxy S21 series in South Korea in July before expanding to China in September 2022. The feature is available on select Galaxy devices running the Android 13-based One Question 5:
