Add a layer of security to your Discord account

The growth of social media in the last few years has been great. However, with more and more people coming online every year, the number of accounts has grown exponentially in recent years. Securing your account by adding a layer of security is important, and the best way to do that is to use two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA is available on almost all social media platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Discord.

2FA adds a layer of security to your social media account by asking you to enter a six-digit code that’s signed through an authenticator app or email on your Android phone, iPhone, or PC. Discord supports both, but to authenticate via SMS, you need to set up 2FA through an authenticator app.

Let’s take a look at how to enable two-factor authentication on Discord.

Secure your Discord account with 2FA

Before jumping into the process, you need an authenticator app. The good news is that there are many 2FA authenticator apps that you can try. If you have a Galaxy Watch 4, you’ll use Authenticator Pro because it’s the only authenticator app available on Wear OS. However, almost all programs do it easily.

Enable 2FA on Discord and the web

1. Open the Discord desktop app or go to discord.com/login and enter your login credentials.
2. On the second vertical page, click on the belt icon next to Deafen’s Mute options to open it user settings.

   

3. In the My account page, scroll down and click Enable Two-Factor Auth.

   

4. Enter your Discord password and open the authenticator app on your phone.

   

5. Scan the QR code and enter the six-digit number to enable 2FA. Also, save the key and keep it in a safe place, just in case you lose your account.

   

6. Click Enable SMS verification to enable 2FA on Discord via SMS.

   

It is recommended to have as many 2FA login methods as possible. If one of the entry ways fails you, you have other ways to enter.

Enable 2FA on the Discord mobile app

1. Enter Discussion.
2. Click on yours profile at the bottom, and go to account.

   

   

3. Up Enable Two-Factor Auth and enter your password.

   

   

4. In the Download a verification program side, click Yes.

   

   

5. Copy the code, open the authenticator app on your phone and print it.
6. In Discord, click Yesenter the six-digit number, then press No longer.
7. On the next page, click Enable SMS verification.

   

   

Enabling 2FA on Discord will lock you out of active Discord sessions on all accounts. If you want to log out of all devices at once, you can enable 2FA to log out of all apps and turn it off.
