Cyberpunk 2077 fans weren’t the only ones who could enjoy an extended presentation at last night’s Game Awards event, as Horizon Forbidden West received an announcement for another called ‘Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. ‘
The update is a PS5 only release and is set to drop in April of 2023. More on April 19 so it’s in the second half of the month. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles. Most of the city seen in the car is torn up and overgrown with plant life. Lava waterfalls run down the sides of the land and Aloy soars atop her beautiful Sunwing mount.
Aloy must travel through the volcanic landscape to find an evil threat. It’s a giant machine that looks like a giant hermit crab with pockets. Developer Guerilla Games did not provide much information about the content details of the expansion. But the studio offers some details.
Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores continues the story
As mentioned above, Aloy is going to LA, a “terrible land south of the Tenakth Clan lands.” The story of the expansion picks up where the original game left off. So you don’t want to play the expansion content until the main game is over. If you can do it earlier in the first place.
Guerilla also said that players will be able to explore the new area by air and by sea. Some areas will be accessible through the Sunwing and players will swim in the local waters in other areas. That’s about the details of the current update. But Guerilla hints at more information coming soon. Expect this information to include a price, as well as new features and additional features coming to the game with the release of Burning Shores.
You can watch the teaser trailer for it above and check out some more screenshots on the official blog post.
