The iconic actor will take over the role of General ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt.
After William Hurt passed away earlier this year, his MCU role of General Ross was suddenly taken over by none other than Harrison Ford — an iconic actor who many believed was not interested in joining the superhero universe.
However, it appears that Ford begs to differ. With his impressive portfolio including legendary characters like Han Solo and Indiana Jones, as well as a new gig in Yellowstone’s 1923, Ford seems to be very simple when it comes to joining Marvel.
“Hey, look, I’ve done a lot. I want to do some of the things I’ve never done,” Ford said. The Playlist.
When asked if motion capture is among the things he hasn’t done yet, Ford simply replied with a “zipped-lips” sign — something many fans believe could be confirmation of more surprises to come.
Rumors are swirling in the Marvel fandom that Ross is supposed to be the infamous Red Hulk. This character will need motion capture technology to bring him to life — which is why Ford’s “answer” only fuels Red Hulk speculation among fans.

Some people, however, were skeptical to hear that Ford’s reason for joining the MCU was the desire to try something he had never done before.
“Harrison Ford has never been part of a big movie franchise? Owned by Disney? Huh,” Twitter user James Spiro said.
Well, even if Ford’s real reason was purely practical, many people are perfectly fine with that.
“We joke about it, but I 100% respect Harrison taking roles for money. He has a craft, he treats it like his job, he gets paid, and he doesn’t call it quits,” Twitter user FettDoba mentioned.
Ford will portray General Ross in the upcoming fourth installment of the MCU’s Captain America, titled New World Order, as well as in Thunderbolts. New World Order is set to release on May 3, 2024, while Thunderbolts hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
