Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny‘s Harrison Ford has now put the terrifying rumors of his character being replaced to rest.
Indiana Jones has been a beloved figure in pop culture ever since Raiders of the Lost Ark opened all the way back in 1981. More than forty years later, the franchise is about to release its fifth entry.
A new trailer for the much-anticipated sequel was recently released, and it has the world fired up and ready for Indy’s next adventure. Although, many have caught on to one thing: Indiana Jones is quite old.
Could this be Ford’s last hurray with the whip?
Recently, rumors that Pheobe Waller-Bridge, who plays Helena in the film, will take over Harrison Ford’s role by the time the film is finished have started to spread. Understandably, this angered some people, with many hoping it wasn’t true.
Well, now the man under the iconic hat has commented on those very possibilities.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Star Harrison Ford has commented on the terrifying rumors of Phoebe Waller-Bridge replacing the titular character in the future.
When Deadline directly asked if he was passing the baton, he simply said, “No,” and clarified how he “just talking:”
“No, I’m just telling a story. Telling stories. You’ll see. You’ll see. Hope you like it.”
Rumors of someone else donning Indy’s hat have previously been denied by the film’s director, James Mangold, who clearly stated that “No one is ‘taking over’ or replacing Indy:”
“One more thing. No one is ‘leading’ or replacing Indy or wearing his hat nor is he being “erased” by some pretense— and he never was, not in any cut or script — but the trolls will -troll — that’s how they get their clicks.”
While discussing the film at this past D23, Ford pointed to his co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge as one of the reasons why the “is amazing:”
“Thank you for making these movies an incredible experience for all of us, giving us the opportunity to make these movies for you. And I think I’m proud to say… I’m so happy to say that the This one is incredible. And [Phoebe Waller-Bridge] is one of the reasons. The Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure, but they’re also about heart and I’m really, really happy that we have a real human story to tell as well as a movie that will kick your ass. So I’m glad to be here again and maybe for– No, all right, this is it. I will never fall for you again. Thanks a lot.”
There’s No Replacing Indy
Ford’s replacement was not the only rumor that the director had previously squashed, He also buried reports that the film had disastrous test screenings, leaving Disney in a panic.
However, it is not unreasonable for fans to suspect that Waller-Bridge could replace Ford. The iconic actor is getting older, and putting a new younger star at the forefront of the franchise is almost certainly something the studio has thought of.
Maybe his character could go on and become the centerpiece of his own set of films—though he himself might be considered Indy’s replacement in some.
However, it is unreasonable for trolls to claim these rumors as facts, especially when they are probably no more than a hypothetical concern.
As for the project as a whole, people are understandably hesitant when it comes to expectations. The Dial of Destiny. After all, the previous Indy movie, Kingdom of the Crystal Skullis not very good in any respect.
I wish, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will be better when it is released on June 30, 2023.
