It’s not every day that an actor gets punched in the face by one of their co-stars on set. But this is exactly what happened between Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in 2017.
The couple is filming Blade Runner 2049 when the blow happened – and in an unearthed interview, Ford had a rather unsympathetic explanation for how it all happened. You can watch the clip below:
Coming out of The Graham Norton Showasked Ford and Gosling about the punch, and Ford’s reaction was pretty hilarious.
“Oh, I read the script wrong,” Ford joked.
“No, we were doing a scene in flashing strobe lights, he’s walking backwards, I’m walking forward, you have to make it look like the punch was intended, but I hit him. One out of 100 times I hit him.”
Gosling added: “I should be lucky I didn’t hit the theme of this more, it’s not just a punch although a Harrison Ford punch is a different animal altogether.”
Ford interjected: “It’s not a good blow,” to which Gosling added: “I’ll be the judge of that.”
Ford also told GQ Magazine at the time: “Ryan Gosling’s face shouldn’t be there.
“His job is to be out of the range of the punch. My job is also to make sure I pull the punch. But we’re moving, and the camera is moving, so I have to be aware of the angle on the camera to be the punch is good.
“You know, I threw about a hundred punches shooting it, and I only hit him once.”
Meanwhile, Gosling added in his own interview: “You know, they say never meet your heroes, but I would say the addendum to that is ‘…unless they’re Harrison Ford.’ Because he’s a cool motherf**ker.”
The fifth installment in the incredible film franchise sees Ford don his archeological gear and legendary whip once again for the last time.
On top of that, Disney has managed to age the 80-year-old actor dramatically to what he looked like decades ago and looks incredible.
The trailer was released during Disney’s CCXP expo, where major studios like 20th Century Studios, Disney, Disney Animation, Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios and Pixar all gave updates on what people can expect. to see in the future.
