Big news for fans of Ford’s Fish Shack in the South Riding area. The popular seafood restaurant plans to move to a new building about three miles down Highway 50.
Currently, Ford’s Fish Shack is located at South Riding Market Square shopping center That’s near the intersection of 50 and Loudoun County Parkway. It has been there since it opened almost 10 years ago.
However, The Burn has now been told that the folks at Ford’s have an exciting new plan. They bought a plot of land in East Gate Marketplace shopping center where they will build a new restaurant.
East Gate Marketplace is the Harris Teeter-anchored plaza at the corner of Tall Cedars Parkway and Highway 50. Other tenants there include giant King Spa and the Social House.
Ford plans to build a 15,000 sf building next to Walgreens in the center. A portion of that building will be the new Ford, and there will be two to three additional units that Ford will lease to other businesses.
Construction of the new building and moving down the road is expected to take about a year — so nothing is imminent.
Ford continues to operate from its long-time home in South Riding Market Square. However, the owner of that property is actively marketing the space, looking for a future tenant once Ford leaves.
