Ford Megazilla Crate engine
Ford debuted its new and more powerful crate engine, the Megazilla. The Megazilla is a 7.3-liter engine that produces 615 hp and 867 Nm of peak torque. Ford debuted its latest crate engine at the annual Performance Racing Industry trade show, where the brand announced the same two years ago.
The Megazilla is the upgraded and more powerful version of the brand’s 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 engine. However, the Megazilla has a more compact structure, indicating that the brand plans to expand its applications beyond trucks.
For engine parts, the Megazilla features a cast iron block, and a production forged steel crankshaft, with Mahle forged pistons, Callies forged H-beam connecting rods , and CNC-ported cylinder heads. The engine shown also features the 92-mm throttle body from the Mustang Shelby GT500, thus replacing the 80-mm unit from before, along with a low profile intake.

Ford first debuted the 7.3-liter crate engine with the 2020 SuperDuty pick-up. The Godzilla motor in the truck produces 430 hp and 644 Nm of peak torque, which is lower than the Megazilla’s output figures by a wide margin.
A unique aspect of this crate engine is how it encourages tuners to work on the engine. For example, one has already tuned the Godzilla engine to produce 780 hp. And if you add a supercharger to the naturally aspirated mill, the engine’s power output increases to 1600 hp.
Similarly, we also expect to see a high-powered Megazilla in the future as well, just like its predecessor.
Prices for the Ford Megazilla engine have not yet been announced. The engine shown at PRI has confirmed that it will go on sale in the second quarter of 2023, the Motor Authority reported.
