[In Canada, prices for the F-150 Lightning seem unaffected, per Ford’s website here; the last increase on this side of the border was in August 2022, when prices were bumped up by between CDN$10,000 and $11,000. As of December, the XLT starts at CDN$79,000; the Lariat at $90,000; and the Platinum at $121,000. —Ed.]

Automakers around the world, including Tesla and Rivian, are also struggling with higher prices for raw materials such as lithium and warn that high costs are here to stay.

Ford, which has previously said it is targeting annual production of 150,000 Lightning pickups by the fall of 2023, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for a comment on the price hike.

The move follows the automaker adding a third work crew at an assembly plant near Detroit as it ramps up production of its F-150 trucks. (Reporting by in Bengaluru; Editing by Shinjini Ganguli)
