Ford Motor Company and SK Innovation broke ground on the BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, Kentucky on Monday, which will create 5,000 new jobs in the Commonwealth.
BlueOval SK’s joint venture has already invested $5.8 billion to produce electric vehicle batteries for Ford and Lincoln vehicles, starting production in 2025.
The 5,000 new workers will be trained on-site at the new Elizabethtown Community and Technical College BlueOval SK Training Center, the only co-branded learning center within the state community college system. The 42,000-square-foot on-site training center represents a $25 million state investment and will begin construction in 2023, with an expected completion date of 2024.

The battery park, which is about 1,500 hectares, is capable of producing more than 80-gigawatt hours — a type of energy unit — annually.
Ford plans to produce approximately 2 million electric vehicles worldwide by the end of 2026, and the BlueOval SK Battery Park will play a major role in realizing this goal.
