The Forbes list of India’s 100 Richest 2022 has been released. According to the list, the combined wealth of India’s 100 richest has grown by $25 billion to $800 billion. Wealth rose despite a slight fall in the stock market from a year ago, with the biggest dampener being the weaker rupee, which fell 10 percent over the same period. Gautam Adani has bagged the top spot followed by Mukesh Ambani who is second in the list.
According to Forbes, the gain was largely the result of a record-breaking feat by infrastructure tycoon Gautam Adani, who changed the order at the top for the first time since 2008.
According to Forbes, the top 10 richest are worth a cumulative $385 billion.
India’s richest person has a net worth of $150 billion, while the richest woman has a net worth of $16.4 billion. There are nine women on the list. The limit to be listed is $1.9 billion. You can see the complete list of the 100 richest Indians here.

Savitri Jindal: Chairman Emeritus of the OP Jindal Group is the only female billionaire and active politician in the Forbes top 10 list. Her net worth is ₹132,452.97 crowns.
Dilip Shanghvi: He is the founder of Sun Pharmaceuticals and has a net worth of 125,184.21 crores.
Hinduja Brothers: The Hinduja Group was founded by Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja in 1914. Today, four siblings, Srichand, Gopichand, Prakash and Ashok, control the multinational conglomerate and their combined wealth is ₹122,761.29 crowns.
Kumar Birla: Chairman of textile and cement conglomerate Aditya Birla Group net worth ₹121,146.01 crowns.
Bajaj Family: The family owns a network of 40 companies within the Bajaj Group. The 96-year-old family business was started by Jamnalal Bajaj in Mumbai in 1926. With a net worth of ₹With 117,915.45 million euros, the family-owned flagship company Bajaj Auto is ranked as the fourth largest manufacturer of two- and three-wheelers in the world.
According to Forbes, there are nine new faces this year, including three from IPOs: Falguni Naiyar, a former banker who became India’s self-made richest woman after she listed her beauty and fashion retailer Nikaa at No. 44; ethnic wear maker Ravi Modi ranked 50th; and shoemaker Rafiq Malik, who listed Metro Brands at No. 89 last December.
Apart from this, the Top 100 list also includes four returnees. At #69, Joi Alukkas is back on the net worth list ₹25,036.84 crowns. After 2014, Anu Agha returned to India’s richest list with a net worth of ₹18,010.37 crowns. At number 91 is Anand Mahindra, whose Mahindra & Mahindra created buzz with the launch of an electric SUV, and whose net worth is ₹17,768.08 crowns. At number 100 is Bhadresh Shah, Managing Director of AIA Engineering. He is back in India’s richest net worth list ₹15,345.16 crowns.
