Disney premiered the first look at footage of Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5 during their introduction at the Brazilian convention CCXP.

Indiana Jones 5 announced Harrison Ford’s return to the character after more than a decade. Ford played the role of the swashbuckling archeologist in the 1981 Steven Spielberg film Raiders of the Lost Arkreprising it in each of the three sequels so far, including 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The currently untitled fifth Jones film, set to hit theaters on June 30, 2023, will see him do the same, though for the first time Spielberg won’t be returning to the director’s chair, instead handing over the reins in LoganJames Mangold.
As captured by a Twitter user @mishajacklesthe first footage from Indiana Jones 5 was shared by Disney in a sizzle reel at their panel during the Brazilian convention CCXP. The footage is just a short clip, included with clips from other upcoming Disney properties including Pixar’s Elemental and to Marvel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, it did show a glimpse of the recreation of an iconic image, as Ford took the signature Indiana Jones hat and placed it on his head, ready to venture out again. Check out their post below:
The plot of Indiana Jones 5 sees the title character becoming a fish out of water as the story continues to progress. The film takes place in the Space Race of the late 1960s, a full three decades after the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Jones has always had one foot in the past considering the fact that his work involves studying and dealing with ancient cultures and the artifacts they left behind, but now that technology and pop culture have moved on quickly and his academic career ends, he finds himself in a world with less room for him and his particular set of skills.
However, this clip proves that there is still a spark of the old Jones in him despite the fact that so much time has passed. While it doesn’t reveal many details about the film’s setting, the first shot shows him picking up his hat from the ground while emerging from a car, the hat potentially being blown off his head by the wind. The second shows Ford in full Indiana Jones regalia in front of a copse of trees, which seems to indicate that he’ll be back to his natural adventure ways before too long.
Some sequences of Indiana Jones 5 will take place against the backdrop of NASA as new villain Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), a former Nazi recruited by the Americans, does his job. However, the plot summary promises that he will be searching for a magical object that will help him achieve his goals, a search that will likely lead him and Jones back to the wild jungles of the world. Although he is not depicted in the short clip, he will also be joined by his goddess Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge).
