Learning from the ancients
Source: Discovery+
There are almost too many streaming apps to choose from, but most of them offer the same functionality. You may be able to find the best Netflix original series or your favorite artist’s latest vlog on YouTube, but all the best streaming services share one common feature – the ability to download content. to your phone, for remote viewing. Discovery+ may be late to the party, but it currently offers users in the US the ability to download shows to watch later.
Discovery+ has a variety of programs available for streaming, most of which are drawn from the company’s TV channels. Now, viewers in the US can choose from over 58,000 episodes to download and watch later in places where they don’t have internet access – even when traveling to a country where the service isn’t supported. app download for offline viewing (via TechCrunch).
Discovery+ has already tested downloads with users in Brazil before its US launch. Stateside, viewers need an ad-free plan to access the feature, which appears as a small download button after the title of the show you’re watching. As with in-app downloads on YouTube, downloaded Discovery+ content will always be available on your device as long as you have an internet connection that refreshes them at least every 30 days (for unplayed media). When you hit the play button, the app gives you 48 hours to finish watching that video out.
Thankfully, Discovery+ gives you the ability to change the download quality and preferences for downloading over Wi-Fi. The service may have been slow to add this feature, but to be fair, Discover+ is not even two years old.
While we’re only hearing about this for US viewers, we’ve seen a support page on Discovery’s Indian website that says the company is working on the feature, and should be “available soon” ” on Android and iOS. Hopefully we’ll see a wider range of the feature.
