UK health officials have raised concerns about migrants being moved from Kent to other parts of the country without proper checks by the Home Office after reports suggested many of them may have diphtheria. Reports suggest that some people suspected of having diphtheria left the Manston processing center in Kent without proper screening.

According to media reports, one of the migrants, who died after being held at the Manston processing center, was suffering from diphtheria. Government officials at the time rejected the claim, saying there was no evidence to suggest the death was caused by a deadly infectious disease. The news outlet reported on Sunday that postmortem examinations are underway on the dead migrant.

However, another report stated that the Home Office said the death may have been caused by a bacterial infection, diphtheria. It also suggested that government officials could confirm the number of infections on Monday, which may have crossed 50. And as migrants are being moved to other parts of the UK, concerns about the spread of infection have alarmed officials.

ONS data found that net migration to the UK fell by 106,000 to 230,000 over the one-year period.

According to reports, officials conducted polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on the dead migrants, who may have been illegally held at the processing center. Test results indicate that an infectious disease may have been the cause of death, although a final conclusion will be drawn after post-mortem results.

Speaking to the press, Prof. of the Association of Directors of Public Health. Jim McManus said the lack of constructive efforts has led to the spread of preventable diseases across the country. Prof. McManus further added that the situation has harmed refugees and has become more costly and troublesome than preventive measures.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. When was the PCR test done on dead migration?
    On Saturday 26 November.
  2. Where were the refugees held?
    Manston Processing Centre, Kent.
