Logistics giant DHL, also known as Deutsche Post, has committed to buying 2,000 electric delivery vans from Ford for last-mile deliveries by the end of 2023. .
The company intends to use these new electric delivery vans – which are quiet and have no tailpipe emissions – in many markets, including the UK’s right-hand drive market, the European markets of Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Netherlands and the Xcech Republic, and Mexico.
The order for EVs from Ford includes Pro EVs and the E-Transit, which has became the top seller for Ford commercial vehicles.

DHL is also targeting 60% of its logistics vehicles to be pure EVs by 2030. That’s more than 80,000 vehicles that need to be moved over the next 8 years.
With delivery vehicles traveling longer distances than many other passenger vehicles, the economics of operating and maintaining an EV delivery vehicle favors operators like DHL.

Other delivery companies such as Amazon have also announced large investments $1.5 billion AUD in European EV delivery operations.
