Toronto, Ontario — Repairers should start stocking up on parts as the Chrysler 300, Hyundai Veloster and Ford EcoSport are all scheduled to be discontinued by the end of this year.
The Chrysler 300, along with its fellow Brampton, Ont.-produced Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger, will be sent off into the sunset in 2023.
The 300 and Charger have both been built in the same configuration since 2005, with the Challenger entering production three years later.
The three models combined for 15,749 sales in Canada in 2008; sales nearly quadrupled to 4,282 in 2021.
The Hyundai Veloster is also set to face the ax later this year, with its trim lineup recently reduced to one model, and now none.
The three-door hatchback launched in Canada in 2011 and sold 27,412 models during its 11-year run, with its best year in 2012 when 5,741 Velosters were sold.
Sales volume for the model dropped by more than 75 percent during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, the short-lived Ford EcoSport will also be thrown off the production lines, following poor performance competing with the Hyundai Kona.
The model has never cracked more than 22,000 sales since its birth in 2017, while Kona sold 31,000 models in 2021 alone.
How often do you see these models moving into the store? How do you think these cancellations will affect parts availability for the models still on the road? Let us know in the comments below.
