February is a short month. It’s here, and then you have a sandwich, and then it’s March. Well, it’s not March, but it’s almost March, which means we’re going to take a look at the best games released on the Play Store this month.
It’s been a great few weeks for Android gaming. There are some great specials, from clever puzzles to existentialist star-crossers.
You can click on the names of the games below to download them from the Play Store, and if not mentioned, they are paid. If you want a game in February and it’s not mentioned, shout out.
A beautiful hack-and-slash platformer with a story based on Chinese mythology. The violence is cool and good, there’s a good progression system and the end result is just the right kind of palm joy.
Another great adventure from Glitch Games. This sees you exploring through dioramas, then jumping into a close-up first-person scene to solve puzzles and see what the night looks like. A good story moves everything along at the right pace.
A game that sees you controlling a spinning star during the entropic death of the universe. You’re making sure all the right things end up in a vortex, exploring the meaning of life and death as you go. It’s weird, but it’s amazing. It’s free to start with an IAP to unlock the rest.
A side-scrolling action RPG with shades of golden ax and plenty of violence to make your teeth melt. You can play alone, you can play with friends and six different heroes to challenge and play as.
This is a great adventure tour that tells a story spread across three different timelines. It involves giving ideas to different characters to turn the story in different directions, and is based on different stories of the Inuit.
What’s the problem with bullets? They’re going to explode and destroy your kingdom, that’s the problem. In this retro platformer you have to jump around, avoid monsters and make sure that none of the explosions reach zero.
A puzzle adventure that finds you trying to figure out who-dunnit. You need to listen to everything that is said in a crime scene, put together what happened and point the finger of the crime. There is a bundled DLC with this mobile app as well.
A cyberpunk point-and-click adventure set in the future in Neo-Berlin. There’s an orphan girl, a robot friend, and all kinds of alliances to unlock. Hearty, comfortable, and more than 100 places to explore.
An over the top dungeon crawler with hundreds of levels to work through. It has more than a touch of puzzler to it, and there are hours of gameplay waiting for you. It’s free to get started, with an IAP to unlock the full experience.
Run through the night, using one-touch controls to flip and spin over a variety of complex objects. It’s amazing, it’s amazing, and there are mixes to fill, mixtapes to open and more.
