Tata Motors’ flagship SUV, the Safari, has been spotted testing in India. It is expected to launch on our shores in mid-2023.

The test wheel of the four-wheeler, even in the disguised representation, features an integrated, radar-equipped ADAS receiver.

The Safari (facelift) may feature an all-new infotainment panel and 360-degree camera in addition to minor cosmetic changes.

Why is this important?

  • In India, Tata Motors has introduced the new Safari SUV in 2021 as its flagship offering. Unlike its predecessor, the new model sits on a monocoque chassis sourced from Land Rover.
  • The upcoming Safari (facelift) will be the first offering from the brand to introduce Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology.
  • This move by automakers will help increase the popularity of SUVs.

The SUV will feature a grille and 18-inch wheels.

The facelifted Tata Safari flaunts muscular bodywork, headlamps, projector headlamps with dual-function LED DRLs, side skirts, rain mirrors, and two-tone body colour.

On the side, it will be topped with black B-pillars, roof rails, ORVMs, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

LED surrounds, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a shark-tail antenna make the SUV’s rear end look elegant.

It will be fueled by a 2.0 liter diesel engine

The upcoming Tata Safari will continue to draw power from a 2.0-litre, ‘Kryotec’ inline-four, turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 168hp of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque. The motor should be connected to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

It will be equipped with multiple airbags and ADAS functions

Inside, the Tata Safari (facelift) will have a 6-seater cabin and features a dual-tone dashboard, leather upholstery, power front seats, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, and a multifunction steering wheel.

The SUV will have a semi-digital instrument cluster and a large infotainment console with the latest connectivity options.

For passenger safety, it will get a 360-degree camera, multiple airbags, and ADAS functions.

Tata Safari (facelift): price and availability

Pricing and availability details of the facelifted Tata Safari will be revealed at the time of launch, sometime in mid-2023. The updated SUV will have a premium over the current model, which starts at Rs. 15.45 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
