T4 Group continues to lead the way in data centers in New Zealand, announcing today a leading partnership with NTT Ltd to provide their NZ Data Center infrastructure.
Founded in 2021, T4 Group provides regional New Zealand with access to colocation data centers that are green, reliable, secure and economically viable.
T4 Group currently operates two data centers: Whangarei and Auckland, with a third under construction in Southland.
All T4 Group data centers are co-location facilities, providing customers with rack space to store and run their own hardware and servers in a safe and secure environment. The T4 Group team monitors them 24/7 to ensure 100% effective uptime is achieved.
NTT Ltd is a leading IT infrastructure and services company providing state-of-the-art solutions for many of the world’s largest companies.
Building a connected future, NTT is developing an edge-to-cloud network ecosystem, simplifying the complexity of workloads in multicloud environments and innovating at the edge of IT environments where networks, cloud and applications converge.
T4 Group Director David Simpson said the collaboration was something to celebrate.
“Partnering with NTT is an exciting step in the right direction for the business, as both companies share similar views and goals when it comes to the environment and ensuring sustainability is at the forefront of our business,” said Simpson.
T4’s philosophy on sustainability is vital to the company’s values. Typically, large amounts of energy are required to cool data center racks. However, the design of Southland’s newest Tier 4 center will maximize cool natural airflow to significantly reduce reliance on powered cooling systems, while warm air will be extracted and used by a large local business.
Combined with the use of hydropower, it will also be the country’s first carbon-neutral data center.
“T4 Group does not greenwash its operations; currently, most data centers in New Zealand rely on coal as a secondary energy source, with some companies using various compensation methods.
“We can take advantage of the region’s unique strengths, such as access to hydropower, to develop a truly green and sustainable community asset,” Simpson said.
NTT New Zealand managing director Simon Gillespie agreed with Simpson.
“We are very aligned with T4 Group on its focus on sustainability and are committed to partnering together to serve our collective customers and communities on the ground.”
T4 Group Chief Technology Officer Jason Porter said the collaboration with NTT has been a major milestone, growing the business and creating strong links with industry leaders.
“The fact that NTT has a similar business ethos to us made this a no-brainer.”
“We’re really excited to be partnering with NTT by providing their data center infrastructure at the highest level of capability and security in New Zealand – no one else can match what we offer,” Porter said.
T4 Group is always looking for ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
“We are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our business, and part of that requires constantly reviewing our business and implementing improvements.”
“It’s also increasingly important to our customers as we help improve their carbon footprint,” Porter said.
T4 Group continues to expand its regional offering with 500 rack spaces available in their Tier 3 certified data center in Auckland, ensuring the highest security standards in New Zealand, with the highest integrity.
