A God Of War TV show will be developed on Amazon after months of rumors, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Amazon has some great talent on board to lead the project. Co-creators of The Expanse, Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, along with showrunner for Amazon’s Wheel Of Time series Rafe Judkins, will adapt the popular game franchise for the TV screen. In addition to Ostby, Fergus, and Judkins, Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Balrog (director of the 2018 game) is also present.
God Of War is one of the game changing projects that Sony is working on. The closest thing to release is The Last Of Us which will air on HBO Max on January 15, 2023. But there are a ton of other projects confirmed to be in the works. Including a Ghost Of Tsushima movie, and plans for Horizon Zero Dawn, Gran Turismo, Bloodborne and more.
For God of War, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios are working together with PlayStation Productions. With the development of the film from March of this year.
The God Of War TV show will be based on the 2018 game
When it comes to games being adapted for TV or film, there’s no such thing as good music. Although some adaptations have had success, such as Sonic The Hedgehog, the latest Mortal Kombat movie, and Detective Pikachu in name only, there is a long history of these adaptations. The DOOM movie, the Netflix remake of Resident Evil, Warcraft, Need for Speed… the list goes on.
With so many game changes available, it’s not good, it’s easy to be skeptical of upcoming projects. The last of us is actually a very good idea. And there’s a good chance that God of War could be sworn in as well.
The series will be changed from the 2018 game. It was nominated and won the Game of The Year. That success can be achieved in the TV show with The Expanse producers on board. And if the writing and casting are done well.
Currently there is no release date for the series. But don’t think too soon about the range of current projects that include adaptations of The Dark Tower stories, a second season of Jack Ryan and more.
