Anchor Bay’s defense got the offense going.
Aidan French scored twice in Anchor Bay’s four-goal second period that led the Tars to a 6-3 victory over Utica-Ford Unified at Big Boy Arena in Fraser on Tuesday night.
French gave the Tars a 4-3 lead with 9:38 left in the period after he tied the game three minutes earlier, and Kaden Leigh and William Forrester each added a goal to round out the scoring in the MAC crossover game .
“It’s really just a regroup there,” French said of the second period. “We didn’t play well defensively in the first period, so we were able to regroup and play better defense, which created a lot of offensive opportunities for us.”
Darren Jones and Mark Bonnay scored in the first period for Anchor Bay.
Austin Fertik scored twice in the opening period for Utica-Ford, which snapped a three-game winning streak.
Cameron Krim scored the first goal of the second period to give the home team a 3-2 lead at 16:05 of the game.
“In the second period, we were hanging with them, we just weren’t getting many bounces our way,” Utica-Ford coach Evan Gizinski said.
