A man has died after a collision between a lorry and a car on the A140 in mid-Suffolk, police have confirmed.
Police were called to the road in Wetheringsett, near Mendlesham, just after 10pm on Monday.
Ambulance service and fire crews also attended, along with a critical care paramedic from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service.
Police believe the car, a silver Ford Galaxy, was traveling northbound when it flipped onto its roof.
The lorry, traveling southbound, collided with the overturned vehicle as it passed.
One of the car’s occupants was found at the scene with serious injuries and was taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, where he later died.
Police believe a second occupant of the car fled the scene and has not been located.
Efforts to locate this person are ongoing, police said.
The A140 was closed overnight before reopening at around 9am on Tuesday.
Officers would like to hear from any potential witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen a lone person walking in the area just after 10pm.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting reference number 37/75605/22.
