The 2 Ford Mustangs came to blows at the 1/8 mile strip with some untimed grudge racing at I29 Dragway in Pacific Junction, Iowa.
YouTube channel Drag Racing and Car Stuff has a new video showing two different eras Ford Mustangs compete in the 1/8 mile at the I29 Dragway in Iowa. In the video, which covers one of the three races that are two sports cars cars made, a yellow New Edge Ford Mustang GT took on the Beater Bomb, an older black Fox Body Ford Mustang.
Check out the video to see how the two cars perform as well as another race taking place that day at the strip.
New Edge Boosted GT Versus Beater Bomb’s Fox Body
The video begins with smoke and burning from both cars as they prepare to stop at the starting line of the strip. Each car revs the engine and this leads to a strong start for both cars as they move down the length of the strip towards the finish line.
The cars appear to be evenly matched with each other at the finish but the actual times are not shown in the video. YouTube video comments show that the Beater Bomb Fox Body won the race against the yellow New Edge Ford Mustang.
Later, KC Maxx in a 3rd-gen Chevrolet Camaro raced a competitor and got burned out before going down the strip against a white Chevrolet Nova. A bit of back and forth swerving takes place before both cars reach the finish line. As with the first race, the finishing times of the cars were not listed or shown within the video but it was an entertaining race to watch nonetheless.
The short video shows several races and manages to pack a lot of action into less than a minute and a half time frame.
Ford Mustangs From Different Eras
The initial race against the same Mustang represents two different eras for the popular Ford pony car that will enter its 7th generation in 2024. The upcoming Mustang promises a continuation of Ford’s iconic legacy of being a high horsepower and fast car with a V8 engine in an era where many competitors are moving quickly towards electric powertrains.
While it’s probably inevitable that the Mustang will eventually follow, for now, the Mustang will continue the traditions upon which the car has historically built its reputation.
