Welcome to the 462nd edition of Android Apps Weekly. Here are the top headlines from last week.
- Google added its Waze and Maps teams this week. The company has acted as a cost-saving measure since the two programs worked together. On the positive side, integration can help both programs. On the negative side, Waze may lose a lot of its freedom. Click the link for more information.
- Amazon wants to pay users $2 per month to spy on their phone usage. The company wants to learn more about how people use their phones and how effective their advertising is. It’s not open to everyone right now, and it’s not a lot of money. However, it can tempt some people to do it.
- Google Chrome is running low on power and memory. Both new save features are rolling out as we speak, and we should see them fully rolled out in the coming weeks. The memory saver sleeps the batteries when not in use, and the battery recovery function starts when it is below 20%.
- Google introduced a new spatial audio feature this week. It should land on Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 phones. Apps that support this feature include Google TV, HBO Max, Netflix, and YouTube. The list isn’t as long as Apple’s spatial audio offering, but it’s a start. Click the link for more information.
- Google Photos is testing a new search function. Work helps you recognize people by their faces. Some users have noticed that the Google Lens button has been replaced by a search function. The way it works is you tap someone’s face, and Google Photos will show you more photos with that face. It’s kind of neat, really.
The shower roll video for TikTok
Price: Freedom

Auto Scroll Video for TikTok is what the name says. It easily connects to TikTok so you don’t have to. The job is good. You download it, give it Accessibility permissions, and then configure it in the settings. From there, it opens immediately when you open TikTok and start scrolling. It can be changed for short or long videos when you run them. It’s definitely an early app and could use some tweaks. That word is pure, pure thought.
Flying Knights
Price: Play for free
Airship Knights is an action RPG. Mechanically, it is the same as many others. You get new characters, level up, and use them to advance in the game. Most of the time it was a fight. The game has a fun atmosphere, although the voice acting is a little cheesy. There is also a PvP mode with many areas to unlock. It’s decent as far as idle RPGs go, but those who don’t like lazy games won’t like it.

ZomokMe is a budget tracker for everyday expenses. You can enter your purchases and expenses. Also, you can share reviews among your friends if you share one. In everyday use, it’s easy to use, and you can clearly see your expenses on the go. You have to create an account to use it, it’s not perfect, but otherwise, it works fine. The only real downside is that having something to do with it doesn’t work if your friends aren’t signed up.
Zombie Hunter D-Day 2
Price: Play for free
Zombie Hunter D-Day 2 is the sequel to the popular Zombie Hunter D-Day. The first game took place 80 days after the apocalypse, and the second will take place 160 days after the apocalypse. In other words, the games are closely related. It’s an FPS game where you take on zombies and monsters while trying to avoid death. There is an arcade shooting style to the game where you don’t have to move around. The main game is shooting zombies from a fixed position.
Some other features include offline support, a weapon matching engine, and tons of zombies to shoot. It’s free to play, but it doesn’t have much in the way of in-app purchases. It’s a typical arcade game for the most part, but it’s not a bad arcade shooter.
Paint MS Version
Price: Freedom

MS Paint Version is a portable port of the Microsoft Paint program. There are tools that you can click and use. Not great with a finger, but comfortable to use with a stylus or S Pen if you have one. The app feels like it was originally built. There are some downsides, especially the menu system that doesn’t work well. We think the developer might have tried again before launching. However, when they work properly, it’s a small graphics program like old Windows.
