Two teenage boys were rescued from an amusement park ride at London’s Winter Wonderland on Wednesday night after the Slingshot attraction’s bungee cord snapped, leaving them dangling in the air.
Firefighters responded to the fairgrounds in Hyde Park for two people trapped inside a bungee carriage, but staff were able to free them before the brigade arrived, London Fire Brigade said.
A video of the incident posted on social media shows the capsule swinging sideways instead of upright in the air. Visitors on the ground could be heard gasping and were carried away from the scene.
“We saw it for a few minutes and then as we turned around there was a loud bang and it was hanging over the side – two people on the ride were screaming,” one witness told the BBC.

A spokesperson for Hyde Park Winter Wonderland told the outlet that there was a “technical issue involving the reverse bungee” that resulted in the incident.
