At the recently concluded 2022 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), Ringbrothers came out to showcase some of the coolest products in the automotive aftermarket industry. Honestly, the venerable Ringbrothers custom builders are our center of attraction every year, as they consistently deliver insane builds to the restomodding game.
As expected, all four exhibits from Ringbrothers at 2022 SEMA are muscled-up showstoppers. The 1948 Chevy Super Truck “Enyo” was the most extreme, but the Ringbrothers’ latest Mustang build, the Patriarc, had many gearheads drooling and coveting. Based on 1969 FordMustang Mach 1, Ringbrothers managed to push the American muscle car icon to the limits of performance and aesthetics. The following are our top ten reasons why we love the “Patriarch” of the Ringbrothers.
Once again, the Ringbrothers demonstrate their excellent metalworking skills by remaking the Patriarch’s body. The classic Ford Mustang Mach 1 car is now two inches wider, and the rear quarter panels are lower.
Unlike other 2022 Ringbrother builds with a full carbon fiber body, the Patriarc is mostly metal. However, there are still various elements made of carbon fiber. The spoilers, quarter panel intake, hood, and rear diffuser come from lightweight carbon fiber.
9/10 All Business Under the Hood
We always love Ringbrothers builds for their performance aspects, and the Patriarc does not disappoint. Compared to their 1000 hp Camaro ‘Strode,’ the Mach 1 Patriarc may seem modest, but it’s certainly not slow.
Onboard is a Ford Performance Aluminator 5.2 XS engine capable of 580 horses and 445 lb-ft of torque at a screaming 7,800 RPM. Combine this power with the lightweight retro build, and you have a heavy sleeper. Disclaimer, the raw power delivery in this matter is not suitable for street use.
8/10 High Performance, Manual Transmission
A Strange Engineering 9-inch rear differential helps a T-56 six-speed manual send power to the wheels. This gearing setup is robust and can withstand massive torque and power.
Rated at over 700 lb-ft of torque, this transmission system can handle more twist than the engine can handle. Additionally, it provides incredibly crisp shifts, giving it a true manual experience. We love the Patriarc transmission because it’s powerful, versatile, fun, and easy to use.
7/10 Beefy Suspension
Another reason to love the Patriarc is its solid support from the tires and suspension. For better handling and comfort, this muscle car sits on independent front and rear suspension with Penske Racing coilovers.
The Ahlman Engineering-built chassis rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (similar to the BASF Glasurit Ghost-White-coated Ringbrothers 1969 Chevy Camaro ‘Strode’) mounted on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear HRE G-Code Edition wheels.
6/10 Tremendous Stopping Power
With great power comes great responsibility to produce reliable deceleration. The strong V8 drives the car with all its heart, so the design team had to fit the build with suitable braking. Baer six-piston calipers are the weapon of choice for this classic muscle car.
The tight Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are stable and stay grounded when braking. Any gearhead will love a car that puts out that much power in a lightweight chassis yet handles deftly and can brake on demand.
5/10 Unique Reimagined Interior
Another thing we love about the amazing Patriarc is the pearl blue exterior, which compliments this beauty at first glance. The interior matches this blue theme with leather bucket seats, the dash, and door linings.
The designers of the original Mustang Mach 1 were stunned by how the interior of this project turned out. The carbon fiber steering wheel is beautiful, with unique holes in the spokes that give it an aggressive look. The former Mach 1 inside is now a stylish, luxurious and modern Patriarc.
4/10 High-Tech While Paying Tribute To Heritage
The best thing about the Ringbrothers ’69 Mustang Mach 1, the Patriarc, is how it incorporates modern technology and design while paying homage to the original car. For example, today’s techy dash still uses shapes from the original Mustang.
The new creature comforts don’t overpower the design or intent of the original Mustang but rather work as a compliment. The innovative technology features are easy to use and practical, preserving the vintage Stang identity.
3/10 Without Sacrificing The Glory Of The Original ’69 Mustang
The original Mustang was famous for its prowess on the streets and racetracks. The Rim Blow Steering Wheel, the high rear bucket seats, and the shaker hood scoop all contribute to the cool factor of this classic car.
The new Mustang Mach 1 stands out from its siblings, and Ringbrothers intended to stand out from the pack with this build. The rebuilt muscle car retains the glory of the original ’69 Mustang, which is every restorer’s dream.
2/10 5,000-Hour Reconstruction Masterpiece
According to Classic Beyond, a typical classic car requires about 1000 hours for a full restoration job. Therefore, it is clear that the Ringbrothers went above and beyond in working on this project.
Many novice builders will find stripping everything and doing a restoration job overwhelming. But at Ringbrothers, people find satisfaction by paying close attention to details. Patriarc prides itself on great attention to detail, from the smallest detail to the largest.
1/10 Based on The Impressive Mach 1
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 ticks all the right boxes for most enthusiasts as it is elegant, fast, and powerful. This performance marque was so popular in its day that the Mustang GT was shamed out of production.
It’s great that Ringbrothers took a legendary performance-oriented model for their build and only made it better. Various powertrains were available for the original Mach 1, such as a 5.8-liter V-8, a 6.4-liter V8, and a 7.0-liter 428 super Cobra jet. Patriarc is capable of producing insane power thanks to his Ford Performance Aluminator 5.2 XS.
